Daniel Wayne Stoner, 57, of Marysville, IN passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2020. Dan was born September 8, 1962 to Marvin and Janice (McDevitt) Stoner.

Dan is a graduate of New Washington High School, and worked for the Indiana Department of Transportation for 28 years. Dan’s true passion was taking care of his family and supporting his community. Dan was a dedicated member of the New Washington Volunteer Fire Department for more than 30 years. He held many offices during his time, including Chief (1997-1999), Deputy Chief, Treasurer, and Secretary. He received many awards over the years, such as Firefighter of the Year, the Marie Dickey Commitment Award, and the 30 Year Service award. Dan loved firefighting and rescues, but also the camaraderie of the department and enjoyed participating in Firefighter Games, collecting money for the Crusade for Children, and working the annual Fireman’s Picnic. Dan never hesitated to put another before himself and is known to help anyone he came across, from assisting stranded motorists to opening his home to kids who needed help. His family will not only remember Dan for his heart of gold, but for his infectious laughter and his big smile. We will remember his playful and kind nature. We will remember how much love and friendship he gave freely. We will remember his soft, unwavering strength and resiliency through adversity. We find comfort in words he spoke to us so often, “this too shall pass”.

Dan is preceded in death by his brother David Stoner, his cousin Andy Stoner, his father-in-law Tim Young, as well as grandparents, aunts and uncles.

Dan will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Angela Stoner; his parents Marvin & Janice Stoner of New Washington; his mother-in-law Melba Young of Underwood, IN; his sister-in-law Rebecca Stoner of Charlestown, IN; his children, Warren Stoner of New Washington; Matt & Tessa (Stoner) Booth of Clarksville, Tennessee; Joshua & Kari Wilson of Blocher, Indiana; Levi & Cassie Wilson of Seymour, Tennessee; Elizabeth Wilson of Marysville; Shane Wilson & Amanda Walls of Underwood, Indiana; and his 12 grandchildren.

Life Celebration Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday May 30, 2020 at Grayson Funeral Home in New Washington. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday and after 9 :00 a.m. on Saturday. Published in Courier Journal from May 24, to May 27, 2020.
