Robert Carlyle Bunting Jr., age 72, died on Tuesday, October 1st surrounded by family. He was born on August 9, 1947 in Portsmouth, Virginia to Beatrice J. Vannoy and Robert C. Bunting Sr.
He was a small business owner in the Louisa County community where he resided for nearly 50 years. He lived his life as a man of service to both his community and his country. He was honorably discharged from the US Marine Corps September 1, 1970 after serving in the Helicopter Marine Medium 262 as a crew chief during the Vietnam War. He was twice awarded a Purple Heart medal of honor for service to his country.
He lived a full life and had many hobbies including hunting, horses, fishing and classic cars. He especially cherished spending time with his family and enjoyed retreating to their river home.
Robert (Rob, Robby, Bob) was the heart of his family, a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He is survived by his wife, Karen Bunting, children Amy Wilson (Chuck), Robert Bunting III, step-children Bobbi Thibo, Donnie Thibo, and grandchildren Hope Matkins, Katelyn Wilson, Hayden Bunting, Breanna Wilson, Courtney Wilson, Ainsley Bunting, Brice Wilson, and Grayson Thibo, his sister Linda and brother Don.
The graveside service will be held Saturday, October 5 at 10 a.m. at Spring Grove Memorial Park, 2779 Pendleton Road, Mineral. Food and Fellowship to follow at New Life Community Church 509 East Main Street, Louisa.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to St Jude's Children's Hospital in his honor
