Wareham, Mass. – Margaret Carroll Neill, a former Broadway actress and resident of Flanders, N.J., died Friday at the Roland Thatcher Nursing Home here. She was 95.

She was born in Lyons, Kan., and lived in New York City and Great Neck, Long Island, N.Y., before moving to Flanders in 1936. She moved here several months ago.

She spent her childhood attending theatrical schools in Kansas City and Chicago. She began her acting career with the Charles Coburn Players and toured the Midwestern and Eastern United States before coming to Broadway to star in the Chinese play, "The Yellow Jacket."

In 1919 she married John R. Neill, who authored three and illustrated several [many; almost all] of the books in the "Wizard of Oz" series.

Mrs. Neill is survived by three daughters, Natalie Mather, Key Biscayne, Fla., and Woods Hole, Mass.; Annrea Sutton, Falmouth, Mass., and Joan Farnsworth, Upper Saddle River, N.J.; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
