SOLOMON, Lawrence L. Lawrence Solomon, 84, passed away peacefully April 10, 2017, due to complications of Alzheimer's disease. A treasured husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he was a dedicated family man and a sterling role model. Lawrence Larry to his business partners and customers was born August 7, 1932, to Ted Solomon and Sadie Angrist Solomon in Dallas. After graduating from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1950 and attending Arlington State College, Lawrence enjoyed a long career in the grocery business. He worked in Dallas, Shreveport, and Lubbock, where he retired in 1997 as vice president and co-owner of Arnett Brokerage Co. Lawrence married Elaine Kessner on March 15, 1953, and last month they celebrated their 64th anniversary. Over the years, they enjoyed family celebrations and travel to Hawaii, Europe, Asia, and Australia. Lawrence served as president and treasurer of Congregation Shaareth Israel in Lubbock. After retirement, Lawrence and Elaine built a home in Plano, and they enjoyed services and programs at Temple Shalom in Dallas and classes sponsored by Seniors Active in Learning. They relished sharing their grandchildren's activities in Plano and Austin. In 2010, they moved to The Legacy at Willow Bend, where they made many new friends. In recent years, they celebrated the weddings of their grandchildren and the births of four great-grandchildren. Survivors include his wife Elaine of Plano, children Richard and Susie Solomon of Plano, Andrea Bass of Austin, and Mark Solomon of Tacoma, WA; grandchildren Jonathan and Amy Solomon of Frisco, Katie and Guy Meredith of Woodway, Lauren Bass and Chris Hinds of Plano, and Leslie and Eli Cohn-Wein of Dallas; great-grandchildren Ben, Jack, and Claire Solomon and Lucy Elaine Meredith; brother Barry Solomon and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Lawrence was predeceased by his parents and his sister-in-law Teresa Kessner Solomon. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Temple Shalom, the Fisher Center for Alzheimer's Research, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 13, at Sparkman-Hillcrest, Temple Shalom South section, 7405 W. Northwest Hwy., Dallas. Shiva will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at The Legacy.
