Catherine Arnold Pirilla, 86, of Perryopolis, died Saturday, Jan. 11, 2003, in her home. She was born Nov. 28, 1916, in Lonaconing, Md., a daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret Donahue Arnold. Along with her 11 brothers and sisters, she was raised and educated in the Pittsburgh area. Throughout her adult life she maintained her R.N. license and her love of learning. On Sept. 5, 1940, she married Leonard J. Pirilla Sr., who preceded her in death on Dec. 21, 1984. In 1941, they moved to Perryopolis and established their home and the Perry Drug Store. Catherine was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church of Perryopolis and its Altar Society, the Fine Arts Club, the Perryopolis Heritage Society, the Bridge and Samba Clubs of Perryopolis and several other community organizations. Catherine was well known for her wise counsel and dedication to her family and friends. She is survived by the following children: Leonard J. Pirilla Jr. and wife, Marie, of Rostraver Township, Kathleen Kifer and husband, John, of Perryopolis, Pam Seydor and husband, Mitch, and Brian G. Pirilla and wife, Denise, both of Rostraver Township; 12 grandchildren, Kimberly Faiola, Scott, Lauren and Lynette Pirilla, Eric and Kari Kifer, Shaun, David and Mike Seydor and Patrick, Joe and Bill Pirilla; two great-grandchildren, Tyler Pirilla and Kaitlyn Faiola; and a sister, Nancy Kestle of Waldorf, Md. Friends will be received Monday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the BLAIR-LOWTHER FUNERAL HOME INC., 106 E. Independence St., Perryopolis, where a prayer service will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Perryopolis, with the Rev. Father Larry Kiniry as celebrant. Interment to follow in St. Nicholas Cemetery, Perryopolis. A wake service will be held Monday at 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
