LYONS - Mrs. Jessie Mae Fisher, 96, died Thursday at Good Samaritan Center, Lyons. Born Sept. 12, 1880 in McPherson County, she was married to Charles E. Fisher March 23, 1910 at McPherson. He died Jan. 19, 1947.
She was a member of United Methodist Church, Lyons, 50 year member of Eastern Star chapter C, PEO, Matrons Club.
Survivors include sons: Edwin R., Ft. Collins, Colo.; George C, Brush, Colo.; daughter: Mrs. Helen Walters, Lyons; sister: Mrs. Geneva Hopkins, Louisville, Ky.; nine grandchildren; 15 greatgrandchildren.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Crawford-Miller Funeral Home, Lyons; Rev. Gary M. Fisher. Burial will be in Lyons Cemetery. Friends may call 8 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home. Family suggests memorials to the
Her grandson Brad provided the following information about Jessie's father A. W. Smith, who was Speaker of the House in the Kansas State Legislature in the late 1800s. He was also an unsuccessful candidate for Governor (Republican party) and was beaten when the Populist and Democratic party pooled their votes to beat him. He was a Civil War veteran for the Union Army and was imprisoned at the infamous Andersonville Prison.
