SUMNER, James Michael Sr., 80 passed away peacefully Sunday, October 28, 2018 with his family at his side. James leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 58 years Linda (nee Steinhilber) Sumner, son and daughter-in-law James Michael Jr. and Donna Sumner of FL, daughter and son-in-law Cindy and John Williams of Tipp City, two grandsons, Patrick Hughes Sumner, Daniel Hawn (Elizabeth) Williams, two great grandchildren Chloe and Jordan Williams, daughter-in-law Tasha Williams. Also surving are brother and sister-in-law Richard Earl and Ruth Sumner, brother-in-law Steve (Sue) Steinhilber, two nephews Steve (Crystal) Steinhilber, Scott (Shannon) Steinhilber, three nieces Taylor, Riley and Bella; aunt, Eve Sumner and many other family and friends. James was preceded in death by a grandson Michael Williams in May 2018, his parents Charles Richard and Virginia (nee Puckett) Sumner, his father and mother-in-law Wesley and Louise Steinhilber, numerous aunts and uncles. He was a 1957 graduate of Stivers High School, received his BS from the University of Dayton and is MS in Education from Wright State University. He was Supervisor at MCJVS, and was Advisor of V.I.C.A. retiring in 1997. He was also Advisor for Vocational Education at Wright State University. James was a Life member of Alpha Lodge F & AM 729 and Life member of Bethel Lodge 358 where he was Worshipful Master in 2005, Sault Ste. Marie, MI, member of Ahmed Shriners, MI and Egypt Shriners, FL. He was active and a member of numerous other Masonic Organizations, was an avid woodworker, reader and loved history. He and Linda enjoyed the summers in the U.P. of Michigan and the winters in Florida. Private services will be held at the convenience of James’ family.
