She was baptized and confirmed at First English Lutheran Church in Fosston. She attended Sunnyside Country School and then Switched to Magelssen Elementary and graduated from Fosston High School in 1974. Sandy went on to attend Moorhead State University for accounting and then transferred to Northwest Technical College.
Sandy met the love of her life, Lowell Whitaker, on June 3, 1991. They lived in the Fargo-Moorhead area until moving to Winger, Minnesota in 2001. She worked on and off throughout her life at Moran’s Supper Club in Winger, spanning nearly 30 years. She also worked at the Shooting Star Casino as a Cashier from 2005 until 2012 when her health battles forced her to retire. Lowell passed away on December 29, 2014.
After Lowell died, she moved to Fosston where she lived at Cornerstone and Evergreen Apartments, where she was currently residing.
Sandy enjoyed cross stitching, crossword puzzles, listening to Bob Sieger music, and having a good laugh. She was a feisty person who truly had a heart of gold. She hurt deeply if someone was hurting or going through a rough time. Her grandson, Jackson, was her life and it revolved around him, they spent every weekend together with their "Special Date Nights." Sandy was always quick with a witty humorous quip, in the end she left us all with a heartfelt quote, from her final words:
Remember me with smiles and laughter. Because that is how I will remember you. If you remember me with tears then please don't remember me.
Sandy is survived by her daughter, Darci (Fred) Seledkov; grandson, Jackson Schultz; siblings: Donna Moy, Ed (Renae) Schultz, Karen Schultz, and Tina Averill; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her long-time life partner, Lowell Whitaker, grandson, Austen Eaton; brother-in-law, Gary Moy; and aunts and uncles.
Interment will be in Rosehill Cemetery, Fosston.
