OREANA - Shelby Max Lewis, 68, of Oreana, passed away, suddenly, October 25, 2004,in his home.

Shelby was born April 18, 1936, in Bible Grove, Illinois, the son of William J. and Ruth P. (Hardin) Lewis. He married Audrey Bateman on October 23, 1955, in Louisville, Illinois.

Shelby was owner/operator of Cec's Barbershop in Decatur for 46 years. He was of the Baptist Faith; Member of Argenta Masonic Lodge #871 and Zohak Grotto of Decatur; Past President Argenta-Oreana School Board; Charter Member of the Argenta-Oreana Booster Club; Chairman of the Oreana Zoning Board; Past Member of the Whitmore Park Board and Past President of the Barber's Union. Shelby loved his family, friends, telling stories and studying genealogy. He was also an avid gardener, sports fan, and enjoyed his time "at the barn" with his horses.

He is survived by his wife Audrey, of 49 years; daughter Shelley Loftus and husband Tim of Carmel, Indiana; sons Scott Lewis and wife Donna of Oreana, Brad Lewis and wife Deborah of Interlochen, Michigan; grandchildren Cody, Dillon,and Kelsey Lewis,Drew and? Mallory Loftus, and Shelby LeeAnn Lewis; sister Patricia Harmon of Heyworth, Illinois; brother Gerald Lewis and wife Lois of Bible Grove, Illinois, sister Elaine Birch and husband Merrill of Collinsville, Illinois; sister-in-law Alline Lewis of Bible Grove, Illinois; many special nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother William Lewis, Jr., sister LouEtta Jones, brothers-in-law Rolland Jones and Commodore Harmon. Shelby will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and former customers.

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M., Friday, October 29, at Brintlinger & Earl Funeral Home, Decatur.

Visitation will be Thursday, October 28, from 5 to 8 P.M., at the funeral home, with Masonic Services being conducted at 4:45 P.M.

Graveside services and Burial will be 3:00 P.M., Friday, October 29, at Bible Grove Cemetery, Bible Grove, Illinois.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Argenta-Oreana Booster Club, c/o Gerber State Bank in Argenta, Illinois.
