Irene Lister Thomas, Formerly Of Sag Harbor, Dies April 13

Irene Lister Thomas of Flushing, Queens, and formerly of Sag Harbor died at the Woodcrest Rehabilitation and Residential Healthcare Center in Flushing on April 13. She was 99.

Ms. Thomas was born on August 20, 1920, in Sag Harbor to Irene Ryder and Percy R. Lister. She grew up on Main Street in the village.

She married her husband, William Thomas, in April 1945. She had trained to be a nurse, but discontinued her studies when she married. The couple lived in Flushing.

Her love for Sag Harbor continued, however, as she and her husband often visited the village. The couple also traveled extensively both in the United States and in Europe.

Her hobbies included knitting, and caring for many neighborhood cats, according to her family.

She is survived by her cousins, Sandra Murray of Dover, Delaware, Stephen Peters of Sag Harbor, and Jeffrey C. Peters of Sag Harbor.

She was predeceased by her husband, William, in 2003.

A graveside service is being planned for the fall at Oakland Cemetery in Sag Harbor.
