Helen Renwick (Smith) White (called Nellie in the 1920 US Census) was born at Galashiels, Scotland in 1891. She immigrated to America in 1913 and married John White (24 Jun 1889 – unk), also from Galashiels, that same year. The family lived initially at Madison, Somerset County, Maine, where her husband worked in the textile industry as a mill superintendent for American Woolen Company. They moved to Worcester, Massachusetts by April 1930.

She was the mother of Jean Renwick Smith (White) Shipman (14 Jul 1915 – 9 May 1999), Robert Gordon White (6 Nov 1916 – 19 Aug 2000), and John White Jr (5 Jul 1921 – 19 Mar 1945), who were all born at Madison, Somerset County, Maine. Both sons served during World War II. Robert served in the U.S. Army Infantry and was wounded in action in June 1944. John Jr served in the Army Air Corps and was killed in action in Belgium in June 1944.

She was buried at Hope Cemetery in Section 44, Lot 14513 on December 22, 1939. (Hope Cemetery records)
