Mrs. Jocelyn Tunstall Harris, age 78, a native of Albuquerque, New Mexixo, and a lifelong resident of Bay Minette, Alabama departed this life peacefully at her home on April 13, 2007. Mrs. Harris was a graduate of Baldwin County High School, Bay Minette, Alabama. While in high school, her essay won first place in a national competition, the Edward R. Murrow Award. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Alabama and a Master's degree from Troy State University. She was an educator with the Baldwin County Board of Education, spending the majority of her teaching career at Stapleton Elementary School. She was a charter member of Saint Agatha's Catholic Church, a founding member of the Zachariah Godbold Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a member of the William Smith Chapter of the Colonial Dames of the 17th Century.
She is survived by her daughters: Catherine (William) Garretson, Ellen Arden Harris and Maryanne Tunstall Harris, all of Bay Minette, AL., her brother, Norman Macleod, Canon City, CO., her sister, Skye Macleod Zucker, Baltimore, Maryland. Additional family members are Karen Rimiller of Bay Minette, AL., Gail Hemingway of Mobile, AL., numerous grandchildren, a great grandson, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband of forty years, James Madison Harris and her parents Edmund and Catherine Tunstall of Bay Minette, AL.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 17, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at the chapel of Norris Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Bay Minette Cemetery.

A visitation for Mrs. Harris will be held Monday, April 16, 2007 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Norris Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers are Floyd Jackson, Mr. Lavon Watts, Dr. William Garretson, Randy Davis, Stuart Carpenter and Todd Stokes.
