From notes in Sally Babcock McCluskey writing on Babcock chart: "Wm. as in the picture I sent you, m. in Gorham, N.Y. Julia Reed daughter of Silas and Bethia Hurd Reed. Bethia was b. in Salisbury Conn. he was he 9th child of George and Susanna and was b. in Partridgefield, Mass. Moved with his parets to Otsego Co., N.Y. in 1793 moved to Hopewell, N.Y. about 1806. Second Lieutenant in War of 1812. "In 1836 he with his family moved to ionia, Michigan and purchased 2,000 acres of land and gave his sons good farms to live on and start in life. " A man of strong will and determination, and respected by his fellow men: He died in ionia 1871. Wm and Julia had 15 children all born in Hopewell. George Reed was the oldest William the 7th child."
William Babcock, another son of Dea. George and Sarah, went to live on Sect 43, on the cross road which curves around to the Hopewell Center Road and probably built the house there, the one on the south side of the road beyond the Gheen place. That family went to Michigan about 1836 and had 15 children. Three of these are buried in the old cemetery--Seynour, Alonson and S--. [Silas]
