Funeral services for Patrick Joseph Filbin, 86, of 136 South Sixth Street, Montebello, were held Saturday at St. Benedict's Church from Moritz Funeral Home and were followed by interment at Calvary Cemetery.

Mr. Filbin, who had a number of friends in East Los Angeles and two of who daughters live here passed away October 3. He was born in 1859 in Scotland of Irish parents Hugh Filbin and Mary Butler. At the age of 12 years he came to the United States with his parents and three brothers, one of who, James is living and resides in St. Paul, Minnesota.

For eight years he was Postmaster in Steele, North Dakota, and then he an his family went to Chicago, where he was associated with the Baldwin Piano Company.

Intensely interested in politics, Mr. Filbin frequently put Americanism into practice by writing letters of approval to legislators who were instrumental in passing bills he favored, and letters of constructive criticism when he thought they were needed. United States senators and other legislators were among his friends.

He is survived by his wife Louisa, his brother James, and his children, ed and Hugh of Montebello, Alice Davis of East Los Angeles, May Lyons of East Lost Angeles, Ann LaRue of Huntington Park, Pat of Lost Angeles, Pete of Chicago, Owen of Hemet, Lawrence of Whittier, and Elwood who is serving in the Navy in the Phillipines.
