Funeral services for Lynn Barnes, 52, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, March 12, 2020 at Mt. Horeb UMC with visitation 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made here to The Courage Center which “provides a safe, supportive, recovery-focused setting for young people and families on their journey to recovery from substance misuse or substance use disorder.”

Mrs. Barnes passed away March 8, 2020. Born in Greenwood, she was the daughter of David Stuart and the late Sarah Milford Stuart. She was a graduate from Greenwood High School and Presbyterian College. Mrs. Barnes retired from the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control. She was a member of Mt. Horeb UMC and was honored to have been awarded the 2014 Woman of the Year Award for her continued contributions and dedication to her church. She was heavily involved in her son’s Dixie Youth Baseball Team as the team mom, and her daughter’s Stepping Out Dance Studio as one of many dance moms.

She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Brian Barnes; son, David Barnes; daughter, Ashley Barnes; and sisters, Laurie Stuart and Libby Stuart Tucker (Joey).
