Funeral service will be at 2pm Saturday, January 11, at Crestwood Chapel for Myrtle Morris Hicks, age 88, of Gadsden who passed away Wednesday January 8, 2014. Richard Bradford will officiate. Burial will be at Crestwood cemetery. Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home will direct services.

Myrtle was born in Chilton County. She has resided in Gadsden since 1946. She owned and operated Tommy's Restaurant from 1956 until 1969 and 278 Restaurant from 1972 until 1978. She was a member of Briarwood Hills Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by he husband Paul F. Hicks, her parents Dan and Maude Maddox, five sisters, and three Brothers.

Mrs. Hicks loved her family and loved people. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her daughter Judy Vaughn; son Billy (Gina) Morris, Jr.; grandchildren Krystal Williamson, Keith Williamson, Jeffery (Tiffany) Morris, and Justin (Jessica) Mayo; 9 great grandchildren; 3 great, great grandchildren; sisters Maudine Riley, Helen Gardner, and Mary Ann McCain; Numerous nieces and nephews.

Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Special thanks to the staff of Gentiva Hospice, especially Michelle, Sheila, Kim, Chad, Lisa, Richard, and Tina, and Dr. Steve Sanders.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from Noon until the hour of service.
