He was born April 11, 1957 in Robeson County.
Willie worked for Smithfield (Murphy Brown) for nearly fifteen years and prior to that he worked for twenty years in textile. He was a member of Fair Point Freewill Baptist Church and was a member of the brotherhood for many years. Willie was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to all.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus Hunt and Dessie Mae Hunt; three brothers: Thomas “Buddy Roll” Hunt, Margolous “Shorty” Hunt and Glen Marsh Hunt; two sisters, Cleo D. Hunt (Linda) and Barbara J. Hunt.
Willie is survived by his wife of forty-four years, Mary Oxendine-Hunt of the home; one son, Willie Wayne Hunt, Jr. and wife Porsha of Fairmont; one granddaughter, Sapphira “Sunshine” Hunt; two brothers, James T. Hunt of Lumberton and Rogerdale Hunt of Fairmont.
A Private Graveside service will be held at Fair Point Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery.
