When Elisha McGee(sic), 73 year old Seminole man, died last night he left another place in the thinning ranks of the pioneers of the state and the city of Seminole that will never be filled.
McGee(sic) came to this section of the state the next year after statehood and has made his home here for the past 22 years. He saw Seminole grow from nothing to the fine city it is today.
The deceased man was born in Range county, Texas in 1857, and lived through the terrible days of the Civil and later the Indian wars in the lone star state. His first marriage was to Elizabeth Melton, when he was a very young man. Eight children were born to this union, and the two who still survive their father make their home in Seminole. They are Mrs Mollie Minick, 505 North Second and Joseph McGee(sic), 22 North Jefferson.
The first Mrs McGee(sic) died in Texas in 1901, and McGee married again in 1903 to Sarah Kingrey. The second Mrs McGee(sic) died two years ago here. The youngest son of the dead pioneer, Wayne McGee, lives here and had taken care of his aged father up to the time of his death. Another who survive the deceased man are Mrs J W Edwards, a step daughter and a niece Mrs Con Long, wife of the assistant county attorney.
McGee(sic) united with the Baptist church when he was a lad and had clung closely to his faith in all the years of his life. He attended the First Baptist church here regularly.
Before a well filled house funeral services were held at the church today and the remains taken to the Maple Grove cemetery and put in the final place of rest.
The Born-Chadwick funeral home here was in charge of all the arrangements. Tribute to the aged man in his passing was shown by the many wreathes of flowers lain on his beir as lie lay in state in the funeral home early today. A large crowd attended the funeral and the burial at the cemetery plot.
