Moses was the son of Nancy Denman White (1800-1842), and Abel Henry White (1802-1872). Abel was born in Georgia, and married his wife Nancy there. The young couple then followed his parents to Alabama. Later, Abel would move his family to Montgomery, Texas in 1840 where he died in 1872. Their son Moses, also came to Montgomery, Texas. Moses would later meet Sophia Simms from Crosby, Texas, and they would marry on April 16, 1862 in Houston, Texas.
