Patricia Evetta Fischer
January 22, 1947 - April 17, 2020
Born in Rockville Centre, New York
Resided in Island Park, New York

Patricia Evetta (Riehl) Fischer, a second-generation resident of Island Park, NY, passed on April 17, 2020. Patricia was a beloved member of the Island Park Public Schools community, having served as a school secretary at both Francis X. Hegarty Elementary School and Lincoln Orens Middle School for over four decades, until her retirement in 2012. She attended Hegarty Elementary and Lincoln Orens Middle Schools, and graduated from Oceanside High School in 1965. In recent years, Patricia lived with her daughter, Allison, and her family, in Pelham Manor, New York, but her heart remained in Island Park, where she grew up, worked, and raised her family.

Patricia came from a musical family, and she loved to sing and dance. As a student, she sang in the Oceanside High School choir. She returned to performing in 2018, singing a solo with the City Island Senior Center chorus in a program directed by artists from the Bronx Opera Company. Patricia was also known for her lovely needlecraft, and took pride in her collection of fine dolls. She was a natural-born caregiver who went out of her way to help others at every opportunity. Patricia was a loving mother to her own children, and a dedicated supporter of every student and teacher in Island Park. She brought light into the lives of everyone she met, and will be deeply missed by us all.

Patricia is survived by her three children, Allison George of Pelham Manor, Michael Fischer of Island Park, and Tiffany Fischer of Island Park; and her granddaughter, Sarah George, and son-in-law, Jeffrey George, both of Pelham Manor. She was the widow of Michael Peter Fischer of Island Park, who passed in 1996. She was the daughter of Arthur and Henrietta Riehl, also of Island Park.

Patricia was laid to rest next to her husband in Greenfield Cemetery, Uniondale, NY on April 21, 2020. A memorial will be scheduled after the current health crisis ends. Please feel free to share memories of Patricia with her family and friends in the Guestbook below.
