Christopher Eric Boyer, age 56, died on October 17, 2016 in Milwaukee, WI after a long battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis.

Chris was born on July 31, 1960 in Grand Forks, ND to Clair and Luella Boyer. He graduated from Grand Forks Central High School in 1978 and entered the United States Coast Guard. He served proudly for the next 21 years and retired as a Chief. Following his retirement from the Coast Guard, he worked as a mechanic and maintenance man in both Grand Forks and Fargo, ND and Green Bay, WI. His most recent employment was at St. Norbert's College in DePere, WI where he retired due to ill health.

Chris loved his family, friends and his dog, Phoenix. He enjoyed motorcycles, snowmobiles, campfires, water skiing, scuba diving, horseback riding and spending time at the lake. He is survived by his wife Joan (Haen) of Green Bay, WI; his sons, Kurtis (Lizzy) Lemar of Casselton, ND, Neil (Briana) Boyer of Grand Forks, ND and Joseph Boyer of East Grand Forks, MN; his mother, Luella Boyer and sister Kim (David) Adams of Grand Forks, ND; his grandchildren, Mason Lemar, Dominic Boyer and Claire Boyer; nieces, Chelsea Adams of Fargo, ND and Gina Adams of Seattle, WA; and many extended family members, including his Coast Guard brothers and sisters. He was preceded in death by his father, Clair Boyer.

Chris loved to laugh and sing. There is nothing he enjoyed more than gathering with family and friends. Though we will miss him dearly, we will treasure the memories. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 19 at 1pm at Sharon Lutheran Church in Grand Forks, ND, with visitation from 12-1pm at the church. A celebration of Chris's life will follow at 3pm at Muddy Rivers/Red Roof Inn in Grand Forks.
