Billy Warner Barber was born on September 5, 1933 to Edward and Nora Barber. He grew up in McDowell and Nicholas Counties, West Virginia with his 9 brothers and sisters. He graduated from Richwood High School in 1951, received an Associate’s Degree and went on to the Air Force, where he served 25 years and became a Chief Master Sergeant. He worked at Northrop Corporation in Saudi Arabia for 9 years before returning to the U.S. and worked on the B2 Bomber in California.

“Chief” nick named by his friends in the military, served 2 tours in Vietnam and was awarded the Bronze Star. Billy was a loving, stubborn and very patriotic man. His love for sports was so intense, he broke his nose three times playing volleyball and teaching a young guy to play racquetball. He could often be found on the golf course as he had a passion for golf. He worked at 2 different golf courses as a starter. He also loved spending time in his favorite recliner watching sports, Western films, Sudoku puzzles, and listening to country music. You always knew when he agreed with something by his catch phrase “you got that right”.

Billy married Carolyn Butcher on August 1, 1969 in Covington, VA and spent 50 years together and were loving parents to their son and daughter. He was also a member of First United Methodist Church in Frisco and the American Legion.

He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, one sister, and one half-sister. Left to carry on his legacy are William Barber & wife Margie of Albuquerque, NM; Lisa Goldstein and her husband Jake of Celina, TX; Peggy Barber Koch and her late husband of Glen Mills, PA; Robert Michael Barber and wife Patti Jo of Charleston, W.Va; Pat Barber Jones and husband J.P. of Lewisburg, W.Va; Bobby Barber and wife Jennie of Dickinson, TX; and Jerry Barber and wife Carrolyn of Ventura, CA.

Billy was loved while here on earth and will continue to be loved through time and eternity.
