Mr. Jennings was a member of Simpson Baptist Church. He served in the Army during the Korean War and was a lifelong member of the VFW. He had belonged to the Operating Engineers Local 318. When Kotter Ready Mix opened Vienna, he became manager, also running his own business, operating heavy equipment and digging basements for 20 plus years. Losing his dad at a young age, Samuel learned the value of hard work and compassion for others.
He is survived by five children, Debbie (Danny) Hillebrand, Pam Ford, Kevin (Donna) Jennings, Eric Jennings, and Brian (Gera) Jennings; one sister, Jane Galloway, 14 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Sharon, at age 7, his parents, Walter A and Opal Jennings; two brothers, James Jennings and Walter Jennings; and six sisters, Mary Gill, Augusta Robinson, Clora Melton, Marjorie Grimes, Ella Mizell, and Irma Hitson.
