Charles Franklin Sellers, was also known as "honey" "sweetheart" "husband" to Wanda Louise Gallagher Sellers, his wife of 52 years; and as "daddy" to his daughter Kathleen and "dad" to his sons Keith, Kevin, Kim, and Kurtis; and as "grandpa" to Chris, Bryan, Charity, Amber, Carrie, Baron, Laura, Jared, Kimberly, Eric, Josie, Luke, and Marina; and as "papa" to many great-grandchildren.

Charles' younger sister, Priscilla Brown, of Tulsa visited him regularly before the quarantine. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Leota Colvin and Jacqueline Taylor, and brother, Leslie Sellers; and by his parents Leslie Dodson Sellers and Bertha Ann Moore Sellers.

Charles was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather; and he was a wonderful father-in-law, brother, brother-in-law, grandfather-in-law, uncle, cousin, and friend.

Charles was born December 19, 1928, in Davenport, Oklahoma. His family moved to the Bristow, Oklahoma, area, and he began school in Bristow. Then, they moved back to Davenport, where he went to high school, graduating in 1945. There he met Wanda Gallagher and fell in love. He had to wait until his 17th birthday to get engaged, because Wanda "did not want it to be known around town that she was engaged to a sixteen-year old." Charles and Wanda lived in Bartlesville when Keith was born, Shawnee when Kathy was born, and Ardmore when Kevin was born. In 1952, the family moved to Kilgore, Texas, where Kim and Kurtis were born.

Charles worked for Mobil Oil Company. He took classes at night at Kilgore Junior College, where he obtained his Associates Degree with honors. Even though he worked long days and went to college classes at night, Charles never missed Church, attending with the family Sunday morning, Sunday evening, and Wednesday night at First Church of God in Kilgore.

In 1970, Charles took a job with Mobil that took the family to Nigeria for several years and later to Libya for several years and then to Abu Dhabi for a couple of years. He met many people whose cultures were very different from the one in which he had been raised, and he made many new friends. He and Wanda learned to play bridge, which was a source of enjoyment for many years. He also liked to play tennis and eventually developed a passion for golf. In every game and sport, he was always fiercely competitive.

During the years living and working in Africa, Charles put into practice a principle he taught his children from a young age: Respect and appreciate all people, irrespective of ancestry or cultural background; treat others—all others—with the kindness and consideration you hope they will extend to you.

As long as he was able, Charles attended Church with enthusiasm. Over the years, he served in many leadership positions and taught Sunday School. For more than twenty years, he was an active member of First Church of God in Sapulpa.

In the 1980's Charles took early retirement and he and Wanda bought land in Bixby, Oklahoma, where they built a house and barns and started a small ranch operation. At times, Charles managed a herd of more than 60 cows and their calves. He was an incessant hay-baler.

In January 1999, after a long bout with cancer, Wanda passed away. Although Charles outlived Wanda by more than 21 years, he never stopped loving her. Charles passed from this life to join Wanda on May 13, 2020.

We remember Charles as the fun, vibrant, loving person he was and as the beautiful enduring spirit he continues to be. We will honor him in a Graveside Service, Thursday May 21, 1:30 PM, at Bristow City Cemetery, Bristow, Oklahoma, with Reverend. Dale Neece officiating.

Madeline Cooper (oldest great-grandchild) will set up a Zoom meeting so families members who are not able to attend in person can view the graveside service live. If you want Madeline to include you, please let her know. Carrie Cooper (granddaughter) will plan the music. Please let her know of suggestions. Everyone can join in singing thru the tears. Children and grandchildren who are able to attend may want to say something during the service. Just let us know so we will not overlook. Please reach out to any extended family members and friends who may not have received notice of these arrangements.
