Paul Wade Musselman born Monday, June 11, 1945 in a tiny town named Kewanee, Illinois, died peacefully at home Saturday, May 16, 2020 in Douglas, Wyoming. His parents were Henry W. and Hildegard Katherine (Theobald) Musselman. Paul grew up on the family milk farm with his two brothers, Ray and Warren. After graduating high school in LaFayette, Illinois, Paul went on to college at Bradley University where he studied civil engineering. He was the first person in his family to graduate from college. Paul was attending the university during the Viet Nam War, as well as financially supporting his family on the farm, and therefore was not drafted for the war. This always bothered Paul, as he felt it was his duty to serve his country, so after graduation, Paul voluntarily enlisted in the United States Army Core of Engineers. He served four years as a captain in the Army. Paul’s first assignment was in The Dalles, Oregon, where he met and married the love of his life Valli Lynn Dodge. Paul and Valli had three children together, Jacque, Tye, and Dawn. Paul was a family man, and he made it his life’s work to raise and support his family. Though he went on to work many hours as a mine engineer, and later to become the first Mine Manager of Antelope Coal, Nerco, Paul always made time for his kids and wife. Paul was a quiet soul, often a man of little words, but when he did speak you knew it was wise and important. Paul was a serious man, but when his children or grandchildren entered the room, his face would light up. Paul would give the shirt off his back to help others, and often did just that.

Paul was preceded in death by his mother, Hildegard, on November 12, 1996; father, Henry, on August 8, 1989; and brother, Warren L., on April 17, 2018.

He is survived by his wife, Valli Lynn (Dodge) Musselman; daughter, Jacquline (Rex) Perrine; son Tyrone Musselman; and daughter, Dawn (Joe) Sorg; grandkids, Amanda Musselman, Mason Musselman, Anthony Ballard, Tashina Johnson, Mitchell Anderson, Brandon Sorg, Trevor Sorg, Madison Sorg; seven great grandchildren; and brother, Ray Gene Musselman of Woodhull, Illinois.

A visitation will be held for family and friends at the funeral home on Thursday, May 21, 2020 from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, May 22, 2020 at the Gorman funeral Homes – Converse Chapel with Pat Baumann officiating. Interment will be in the Douglas Park Cemetery with military honors accorded.

Serving as pallbearers will be Joe Villanueva, Ed Mitchell, Trevor Sorg, Brandon Sorg, Mason Musselman, and Brian Musselman.

The Gorman Funeral Homes – Converse Chapel of Douglas, Wyoming is in charge of the arrangements.
