He was born January 16, 1978 in Cambridge, and was the son of Rev. James R. and Kathy (Gray) Gibson of Cambridge.
Ben was a graduate of Cambridge High School, and the Ohio State University where he earned his Associates degree in animal science. He was employed at Heritage Co-op.
Anyone who knew Ben for very long knew he especially enjoyed three things, cattle (especially Angus), food (especially steak, shrimp and Mt. Dew) and family gatherings (especially if someone else was buying). Ben was a very hard worker, an interesting character and a big Ohio State Buckeyes fan. He could handle livestock like a professional. Ben loved his years in the Green Acres 4-H club and later in college on judging teams. At the local fair, Ben was champion showman and was even chosen to represent Ohio at a national Angus show in Georgia, his one and only plane trip. Throughout his life, Ben continued to enjoy going to shows, either just watching or participating. He served on the Eastern Ohio Angus Assoc. sales committee, was a past member of Indian Camp Grange 1424 and a member of Mt. Herman Presbyterian Church. Ben also took pleasure in acting as a mentor, or as they would say a “big brother” to younger 4-hr’s and junior association showmen. He was always there to help lend a hand, give showing advice or just be a friend. He and his brothers worked hard to maintain the family farm “Indian Springs Farm”, and in the end there was a way to do it and then there was always “Ben’s way to do it”, his brothers said.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his parents, Jim (Kathy Gray) Gibson ; two brothers, Matthew (Tiffany) Gibson , and Paul Gibson; his special little buddy, nephew Wyatt Gibson; also missing him terribly is his blue-heeler, Lily.
