Funeral for Melinda M. Anderson of McMinnville will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Chapel of Macy & Son Funeral Directors, McMinnville, with Nels Youngberg officiating.

She died Oct. 3, 2004, in her home as the result of an apparent heart attack. She was 44. Interment will be in a cemetery at Stanfield, near Hermiston. The Rev. Michael Kinlock will officiate.

She was born July 1, 1960, in Oregon City, daughter of Donald Marcus and Eva Jean Black Spender. She was raised in the Molalla area, then moved to the Hermiston area in 1974. She attended Hermiston High School and then worked for Wackenhut Security for several years.

She and Ryan Anderson married and later divorced.

In 1999, she moved to McMinnville and worked for Oregon Mennonite Residental Care Services. She had been a foster parent since 2000 and was a cancer survivor.

Her family said, "She was a very giving person and centered her life around other people." She loved to read, cook and etch mirrors, and loved animals, especially her dog.

Survivors include a foster daughter, Crystal Shirley of McMinnville; her mother and stepfather, Eva and Barrett Alexander of Stanfield; her sister, Janet Davidson of Whiteson; and her brother, Dave Spencer of Willamina.
