Karen Elaine Barnes, 60 of Madison, AL passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2019. Karen was preceded in death by her parents, William Otis and Julia Evelyn Woods Barnes and brother-in-law, Charles A. Koeper.
Karen was an avid animal lover. She always had dogs, cats and birds. She owned four horses: Gambler Man (Tennessee Walker), who won four awards, Fancy (Thoroughbred), Sandy & Willie. Karen had aspired to be a veterinarian when she was younger. She also helped in the breeding and caring for cockatiels.
Karen was the first person in the family to graduate college. She was also on the Dean’s List. She had a love of music, most especially Elvis and the song, Amazing Grace. In her spare time, Karen would spend her time riding horses, and anything-involving horses, reading and computer games. After she became ill, she took up crocheting. Karen will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
A Memorial Service, officiated by Pastor Greg McLaughlin will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at 1:00pm at Valhalla Funeral Home. Please leave fond memories for the entire Barnes family at www.valhallafunerals.com.
