Chester, SC: Charles Lewis McManus. 89, died Saturday, May 16, 2020 at his home. An 11:00 AM Graveside Service will be held Wednesday May 20, 2020 at Chester Memorial Gardens with Reverend Jonathan Parrish and Reverend Bayliss Adimaro officiating. The family will have a Celebration of Life in the church at a later date.
Mr. McManus was born in Chester, SC on October 24, 1930 and was a son of the late W. A. Dove and Virginia McManus Dove. He was a graduate of Chester High School and was a member of the South Carolina Army National Guard for six years. Charles was a member of First Church of the Nazarene where he sang in the choir. He was retired from Springs Industries as a loom fixer.
In addition to his parents, Mr. McManus is preceded in death by his son, Charles L. McManus, Jr.; a granddaughter, Courtney Jean McManus; a grandson, Jonathan Andrew Kornegay; three sisters, Nannie E. Roberts, Rachel Creech and Patricia Williams; and a brother, William “Billy” Dove. He is survived by his wife of over sixty-six years Louise Dove Mcmanus; two sons, James Carlisle McManus (Crystal) of Fort Lawn, SC and Robert Wayne McManus (Barbara) of Chester, SC; daughter-in-law Debbie Aynor of Mystic, CT; brother, Timothy Kevin “Stoney” Dove of Great Falls, SC; two sisters, Dollie Roberts Duncan of Great Falls, SC and Virginia Mills of Wingate, NC; 18 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter and numerous nieces and nephews.
