David Burrows was the ninth of thirteen children of Anthony Burrows and Sarah Torrey Burrows, born in Grundy County, Tennessee. He married Elizabeth Bertrice King about 1833 in Grundy County. She was the daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth King.
David and family moved to Nacogdoches in 1850. In this 1854 school census of Nacogdoches, David Burrows is shown as the parent, with these children in the Mt. Vernon, District #2 school: Harriett, Maria Ann, John, E. M., Henderson and Sela Burrows. David and Elizabeth had a total of eleven children.
David died 5 Oct 1873 in Nacogdoches and was buried at Old North Church. His wife Elizabeth is also buried there.
