Psalms 116:15 “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.”

PHILIP-DIAMOND OLUWASEGUN PHILLIPS was born March 19, 1958 in Ondo State, Nigeria to Akinboboye and Felicia Arinade Phillips.

He ascended from this life on April 30, 2020 at Holy Cross Hospital and was preceded in death by his father. After graduating from Saint Joseph’s Catholic High School in Nigeria in 1979, Mr. Phillips earned an Associate of Science degree in biology in 1984 from Tompkins Community College in Dryden, New York. In 1986, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia.

On September 20, 1986, he was united in holy matrimony to Temilade Dollie Babalola, and to this union three children were born. He worked as a Counselor Social Work for both the Family Service Foundation in Hyattsville, Maryland and Community Services for Autistic Adults and Children (CSAAC) In Montgomery Village, Maryland. He also worked as a Health Aid with Vitalis Healthcare Services in Bowie, Maryland.

Mr. Phillips, affectionately called “Dr. Phillips,” was loving, joyous, and connected. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a warm-hearted spirit. He loved traveling, expanding his knowledge of the U.S. Navy and military customs, and taking family vacations. Mr. Phillips will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

His memory will live on through his mother, Felicia Arinade Phillips; his wife, Temilade Dollie Phillips; his daughters, Linda O. Phillips and Leslie F. Phillips; his son, Philip-Diamond O. Phillips; his granddaughter, Sade Sam; his sisters, Kehinde Akinrele, Juliana Afolabi, and Carolyn Kajesomo; and a host of relatives and friends.

Acknowledgements Perhaps you sent a lovely card,Or sat quietly in a chair.Perhaps you sent a floral piece. If so, we saw it there.Perhaps you spoke the kindest words,As any friend could say;Perhaps you were not there at all,Just thought of us that day.Whatever you did to console our hearts,We thank you so much, whatever the part. For the many expressions of love, kindness, generosity and sympathy extended to us during Philip O. Phillips’ illness and this period of bereavement, the Phillips family is deeply grateful. It is our prayer that God shower you with abundance and keep you all in His tender, loving care.
