On Friday, May 15, 2020 at 9:50 PM EST, Mike Curry passed away suddenly at the care center where he lived. Mikey has been a great online friend for as long as I can remember. Along with so many others, over the years we have celebrated our common love of NASCAR and music, and all the good, bad and indifferent situations that affect our daily lives.
In 2011, Mikey experienced a life altering event, that would shape the remainder of his life. He was deliberately struck by a vehicle in the parking lot where he worked and was so critically injured, we almost lost him then. Life, as he knew it changed forever and the bond we all had with our friend was sealed forever. The guy who struck and nearly killed him, was given 20 years and died in prison several years after the trial.
Mike is survived by his 2 sons who he loved with all his heart. He is also survived by his father, 2 sisters, a brother and many other family members. He is also survived by hundreds of friends, some that he had known his entire life. These are people whose life he touched because of his love for NASCAR that he loved with a passion. We will miss seeing him puttering around on Facebook, giving each other crap and enjoying all his musical posts, especially The Beatles, who he loved dearly.
Preceded in death by his son Gunnar Matther Curry (9841399) and his mother Annamae (Bowen) Curry. He was also preceded in death by his first wife Donna Curry on January 5, 2020. They remained great friends after their divorce, until she passed away. . He was also preceded in death by the love of his life, Melissa Ann Tolson, who passed away on July 3, 2019.
Godspeed Mikey. All of your friends from over the years are mourning your passing, as are your boys. I'll be sure to play some Beatles music and will think of you every time I hear one of their songs. Love you Mikeysea!!!
