Janet Rae Veale Buck age 94 of Boone, Iowa passed away on Thursday May 14, 2020 at the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone.
Janet was born September 27, 1925 in Boone, Iowa to Raymond and Christine (Risher) Veale. She married William Roy Buck at the First Baptist Church in Boone on March 22, 1945. Janet worked as a typist at the FBI in 1943 and returned home to Boone when her mother Christine passed away. Janet moved to San Diego, California in 1958 and lived there until moving back to Boone in 2016. Janet earned her teaching degree from San Diego University and taught fourth and fifth grades in the San Diego School System until retiring in 1990. Janet was a devoted Christian who always seemed to have a smile for everyone.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Raymond and Christine Veale; her husband William Roy Buck; her daughter and son-in-law Susan and Steve Karnowski; and her brother John M. Veale.
Janet is survived by her brother: Joe (Marjorie) Veale; Sister-in-law Barbara Veale; Grandchildren: John (Peggy) Karnowski, Steve Karnowski III, and Marron Harper. As well as several Great Grandchildren: Aaron, Bethany and Rachel Karnowski, and Lawson and Landon Harper – all of whom just knew her as Granny.
In Lieu of flowers memorials in Janet’s name may be directed to the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone, Iowa in recognition of the amazing love and care she was provided while being a resident there.
A Graveside service will take place at Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone on Saturday May 23, 2020 at 10:30 a.m.
