George F. “Skip” Austin, IV was born April 5, 1966 to George F. Austin, III and Joann Robinson Austin. He passed away May 2, 2020 at his home in Mapleton, Kansas.
There’s a lot that could be said about Skip, but nobody would believe it. The most important things were that he was a loving Husband, Dad, Papa and Brother. Family was very important to him. He never knew a stranger and always saw the good in everyone. He was truly an amazing man. He was most proud of his grandchildren and his military career. Skip served his country honorably for 12 years in the United States Army and the United States Marine Corps.
He loved to fish. Skip could spend all day and night on the pond bank. He also enjoyed having the chance to hunt in Alaska. Skip loved watching the Miami Dolphins even when they didn’t play very well. He still stood behind his favorite team. At the age of 3 he had learned how to water ski, making him the youngest water skier in the state of Florida. Skip was a very talented writer, hoping to someday start writing an autobiography. He had an ability to put words on paper like nobody else. He had his associates degree in computers.
Skip is survived by his wife, Brenda Austin of Mapleton, Kansas; children, Kelsey Austin of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Nicholas Austin of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Jody Starr of Arkansas, Krystal Starr of Arkansas, Angel Starr of Texas; 14 grandchildren; sisters, Kim Garver and Michelle Cook of Clever, Missouri, Kellie Lile and Scott Byrne of Osceola, Missouri, Jonas and Robin Dotson of Springfield, Missouri; favorite niece, Emily Garver; favorite nephews Mitchell and Benjamin Dotson; aunts, Linda and Kathy of Florida; many relatives in Oklahoma and many friends.
