Jacob (Jake) Headen, 63 of 13 Blackwood Street died today at 7:25 a.m. at a local hospital after being in declining health for some time.
He was born Feb. 7, 1894 in Jackson County, N.C., a son of the late Dillard and Kate Pannell Hedden. For awhile he lived in Greer but located in Greenville 30 years ago. Before his health failed he was employed at Judson Mill. Mr. Headen was of the Methodist faith.
His wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Lee Headen survives him with 4 sons, Leroy Headen, Chester Headen, Juarl Headen and Charles Headen of Greenville, 2 daughters, Mrs. Burgin B. Staton of Greenville and Mrs. John J. Eshelman of San Rafael, Calif; 3 brothers, Pritchard M. Hedden of Spartanbrg, William J. Hedden of Chesnee and L.M. Hedden of Augusta, Ga; 1 sister, Mrs. Kate Metcalf of Bryson City, N.C. and 13 grandchildren.
The body is at the Thomas McAfee Funeral Home awaiting completion of arrangements.

Funeral services for Jacob (Jake) Headen, 63, who died Tuesday at a local hospital, will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. at Anderson Road Methodist Church by the Rev. Frank Wanek. Burial will be in Zoar Methodist Church Cemetery near Greer.
Pallbearers will be Dillard Dove, Harold Raines, Harold Galloway, Jimmy Huff, Gene Morgan and B.B. Staton.
The body is at the home, 13 Blackwood St. Thomas McAfee Funeral Home is in charge.
