Mr. Timothy Ricky Watkins, 60 of Mershon, passed away Thursday afternoon, May 14, 2020, at his residence.

Born in Alma, GA on October 18, 1959, he had lived in Pierce County all of his life. Mr. Watkins was a Patterson High School graduate and had worked in trucking for a few years before going to work as a backhoe operator for Lowman Septic Tank where he had worked until his health began to decline. He was a hard working man and absolutely loved his job but after being diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes and enduring all of the problems that went with it he was forced to give up working. He loved being with family and friends and had enjoyed fishing when he would get the chance. He was of the Baptist faith.

He was a son of the late Eulis & Julia Mildred Wilkins Watkins. He was also preceded in death by his two sisters, Joyce Watkins and Kathy Watkins; and by a brother, Ronnie Watkins.

Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Angela Denise “Angie’ Nester Watkins of Mershon; two daughters, Christina Watkins of Offerman and Elizabeth Watkins of Brunswick; four brothers, Jerry Watkins of Mershon, Donnie (Carol) Watkins of Mershon, David (Audrey “Doodle”) Watkins of Blackshear, and Randy (Donna) Watkins of Mershon; his in-laws, Jimmy & Mary Nester of Hazlehurst; numerous grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Mr. Watkins’ wishes were to be cremated. His family has chosen to celebrate his life when it is safe for all of his family and friends to gather together.
