Rev. Donald J. Bosworth, 89, of Fremont, formerly of Scribner and Inman, Kan., passed away Monday, Feb. 3, 2014, at Arbor Manor in Fremont.

Don was born March 14, 1924, in Melrose, Mass., to Hartley and Flora (Martin) Bosworth.

He was raised in Greenfield, Mass., and graduated from Greenfield High school in 1942. He then served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from Oct. 10, 1942, to Feb. 5, 1946. Don married Virginia Tilton on Jan. 13, 1944, at Springfield, Mass. After marriage, he attended and received his bachelor of science degree from Springfield College in 1950 and then he graduated from Hartford Seminary in 1952 at Hartford, Mass. He started as a youth pastor in New York and then served as pastor in Buffalo, S.D., Estelline, S.D., Massena, N.Y., Winthrop, N.Y., Scribner, Minier, Ill., and Inman, Kan., retiring in 1990. He came to Fremont in September of 2011.

Don was a member of the Scribner Masonic Lodge No. 32 A.F. & A.M. and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2715 of McPherson, Kan.

Survivors include: his wife, Virginia Bosworth of Fremont; sons, Don Bosworth (and wife, Mary Jo) of Morse Bluff and Rev. Peter Bosworth (and wife, Debbie) of Indianapolis; daughters, Judy Mueller (and husband, Kurt) of Dawson and Rev. Linda Lighthall of Altoona, Iowa; sister, Nancy Hazen of Shelburne Falls, Mass.; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Sandra; and brother, Hartley Bosworth.

Memorial services and burial will take place at a later date at Inman

Memorials may be given to United Church of Christ, Scribner, or to St. Peters' Church UCC at Inman.
