He was a member and deacon of Caney Valley Missionary Baptist Church. For many years, he kept the church property and cemetery mowed and looking nice. He retired as foreman for the Pike County Road Department in 1991. He enjoyed taking care of his yard and making a garden.
He was survived by his wife, Lois Burnett of Amity; four sisters, Mauddean Knighten of Wynnewood, Oklahoma, Lauddean Alberson of Allen, Oklahoma, Lorrean Tedford of Pencil Bluff and Shirley Bryant of Morrilton; and several nieces and nephews.
