Jerry Allan Butler, 79, of Peru, passed away at 9:30 p.m. Friday day, May 1, 2020 at his home. He was born March 10, 1941 in Peru, Indiana to the late Floyd and Merle (Wolfe) Butler. He married Karron Hudson on October 28, 1967 at the First Baptist Church in Peru and she survives.

Jerry was a schoolteacher for over 33 years, teaching third and fourth grade at Peru Community Schools. He was a 1959 graduate of Peru High School, and earned his Bachelor's and Master’s degrees from Purdue University. Jerry was a member of the First Baptist Church in Peru, the Ole Olsen Theater and the Peru Circus Clowns. He enjoyed riding his bike and reading.

Surviving family include his wife, Karron Butler of Peru, his children, Andrea (Jim) Koontz and Allison (Todd) Spegal, and his grandchildren, Audrey (Caleb) Foster, Aislinn Tian, Arwynn Tian, Gus Koontz, Andrew Spegal, Katie Spegal and great-granddaughter, Athena Foster. He is also survived by one sister, Martha Graham and sister-in-law, Betty Butler. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Mary Jane Mock, Dorothy Maus and brother, Charles Butler.
