She was born in Schornsheim, Germany to Philipp Heinz and Catharina Heinz nee Loos. Her mother's father Peter Loos was the bugermeister of Schornsheim and her father's father Johann Marx Heinz had been the burgermeister of Hahnheim.

She married Johann Jacob Schwamb in 12 June 1819 in Schornsheim, Germany and they had nine children of which only six reached adulthood. In 1837 she and her husband moved to Gladenbach, Germany and on 16 December 1852 they immigrated to Baltimore, Maryland where they lived until the death of her husband Jacob Schwamb in 1858.

Shortly after the civil war she and two or her daughters Marianne and Philippine immigrated to Milwaukee, Wisconsin and her son Charles Adam joined them shortly after the civil war. She lived there until her death in 1870.
