Oldtown—Dorothy Mae “Dot” Rose, 79, of Oldtown, passed away on Monday, May 4, 2020, at the Allegany Health Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Cumberland, MD, on April 2, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Dewey and Mary (Horn) Shoemaker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Debra Rose Brown; brother, Clarence Shoemaker; brother-in-law, Sam Wandless; and other brothers and sisters-in-laws on her husband’s side of the family.
Dot grew up in Cumberland before moving to Oldtown. She was a graduate of Fort Hill High School. Dot was a homemaker, wife, and mother. Dot enjoyed horseback riding and raising rug dogs.
She is survived by her husband, Leo G. Rose, whom she married in 1959; her children, Leo M. Rose and wife Ruth, and Joseph P. Rose, Sr. and wife Sherrie; grandchildren, Gail L. Miller, Scottie Brown and wife Morgan, Heather A. Flanagan and fiancée, Brett Hose, Jodie R. Maraio and husband Kenneth, and Joseph P. Rose; great-grandchildren, Allie Miller, Abigail Hose, Jason Brown, and Harper Hose; sister, Annalee Wandless; and several brothers and sisters-in-law on her husband’s side of the family.
Dot is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
