Daniel graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1975 and was a carpenter.
Surviving is his mother, Mary of Ottumwa; son Drew Nelson (Katy Gooden) of Floris; grandson Drake Arthur; and two brothers, Terry Allen Nelson of Woodbury, MN, and Stanley Scott Nelson of Ottumwa.
He was preceded in death by his father.
His body has been cremated and no services are planned. Reece Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
