Wendell Allen, 94, of Alvarado, Texas passed away July 19, 2013 in Grandview, Texas. He was born November 19, 1918 in Hillsboro, Texas, the son of Charles Walter and Bessie (Dollar) Allen.

On January 2, 1938 he married Jessie Merle Kennedy and he served in the Navy during WWII. Wendell owned his own dry cleaning plant in north Fort Worth and then was a machine parts inspector for several large aircraft plants, retiring from Bell Helicopter. At the age of 10, he learned to play the guitar and later in life played at the nursing home and with friends. He was a craftsman and built furniture and lawn ornaments and loved going to flea markets. Wendell was of the Baptist faith and was a Mason.

Survivors include his wife, Jessie Merle Allen of Alvarado, children; Wendell Wesley Allen, Beverly Horan and Cheryl Dianne Stewart, grand children, great-grand children and great-great-grand children.

Graveside services will be at the Vaughan Cemetery on July 22, 2013...M_M
