Former Williamson resident and Kroger cashier, Debbie L. "Crosier" Childers-Smith, 66, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 9, 2020 at her home in Beckley WV. She was a graduate of Williamson High School in 1972. Her walk with Jesus Christ was most important to her and commitment to God. She was a member of Memorial Baptist Church in Beckley, WV. Her commitment to Christ began as a young girl in East Williamson Baptist Church in Williamson, WV. She enjoyed being a Sunday school teacher for most of her years. Most recently she was enjoying traveling to visit her family and friends and volunteering at the Senior Center in Beckley, WV. In her earlier years, she was a Girl Scout and eventually became a scout leader.

Debbie was born March 27, 1954, in Williamson to the late Raymond Childers (Deceased) and Lucille Childers (Deceased). In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Ray "Tex" Childers (Deceased) and David Childers (Deceased); and sister, Dana Childers (Deceased).

She is survived by her children, Candy Thompson and Dwayne Thompson; stepchildren, Trudy Gebo and Michael Smith; special friend, Robert Bolt; sister Shera Childers; a special sister-in-law, Helen Childers; six grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 13, 2020, at Melton Mortuary in Beckley with Dr. James Boyd officiating at 5:00 pm. Unfortunately, due to Covid-19, only 25 individuals will be allowed to attend the funeral. A live stream video will be shared on Debbie’s Facebook page approximately at 5:00 pm for those who cannot attend. Burial will be on Thursday, May 14, 2020, at 12:00 pm at Mountain View Memory Gardens located in Maher, WV. No formal graveside services will be held.
