Mike Anthony Merz, Sr. was born September 9, 1954 in San Antonio, Texas and was the son of Gilbert Earl Merz and Hope Valadez Merz.
He and his brother Pat Merz were fraternal twins. Gilbert and Hope had four sons; Gilbert Merz II, Mike Anthony Merz, Pat Merz and Chester Merz.

Mike married the love of his life Diana on July 5, 1975. He is survived by his Wife Diana J. Merz and their three children Diana Merz II, Mike Anthony Merz Jr. and Pat Merz.

He passed away on December 28, 2018 surrounded by his family.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He left this world better than he found it. He will always be remembered for his stern pride and stoic expression. He was a passionate, caring, hardworking man that had the strength of a mountain and always put his family first. He is truly missed every day.
