Leo Leroy Evans was the son of Jesse Evans (1867-1942) and his wife, Jennie Sickler Evans (1869-1949) he was born at Russell Hill in Washington Twp., Wyoming County, PA. Leo Evans was one of 8 children born to this couple. His siblings were Jessie A Evans Fisher (1894-1975); Elsie Frances Evans Caril Fox Meier (1896-1941); Osie Corey Evans (1898-1978); Marcey Rodney Evans (1900-1989); Dana Leroy Evans (1902-1985); then Leo Leroy Evans (1903-2014); Helen Lydia Evans Womer (1906-1992); and Jay Jacob Evans, Sr. (1911-1996).
Leo was married twice, on 1 May 1935 he married Mabel Elizabeth Clifford Evans of Scranton, PA. From that marriage two daughters were born: Joan Evans Cahail born in 1937 who was living in Honolulu, Hawaii when her father died; and Barbara Evans Cook born in 1940 who lived in Falls Church, VA and appears to have been the caretaker of her 93 year old father at the time of his death. Mabel E Clifford Evans died in Meshoppen in 1955 and is buried in the Sunnyside Cemetery.
His second marriage in 1957 was to Ruth Laila Radle Evans (1919-1987) a Tunkhannock native. They had a third daughter, Linda Jean Evans Stevens Avalon who was not mentioned in his obituary, so likely had passed away by the time her father died.
