Kenneth M. Strickland, 79, of Nichols passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2020 at his residence. He was born in Loris, South Carolina on June 15, 1940, the son of the late Simp Strickland Irene Miller Strickland. Kenneth spent twenty-six years working with Union Carbide. Prior to his declining health, he enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Kenneth was predeceased by his wife, Martha Jean Strickland, a son, Kent Strickland and a brother, Paul Eldridge Strickland.
He is survived by his son, Sandy Scott Strickland and his wife, Lori of Hartsville; two sisters, Mavis Strickland Huggins (Danny) of Aynor and Marjorie Pack (Charles) of Florence; four grandchildren, Martha Brock Strickland of Charlotte, NC; James Scott Strickland of Columbia; Cullan Strickland (Ashley) of Sterling Heights, MI and Louis Strickland (Claire) of Conway. The family wishes to express appreciation to his caregiver, Margie Cooper.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 8, 2020, at New Mount Olive Baptist Church Cemetery in Nichols. The family supports the recommended social distancing standards and asks that everyone respect this for their safety.
