Ruth Woodard, 79, of Greenville died Aug. 1, 2007, a local nursing home. Services are at 10 a.m. Friday at Peters Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Marvin Mosley officiating. Interment will follow at Memoryland Memorial Park.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Woodard was born on Oct. 31, 1927, in Hunt County; the daughter of Clem and Celia Cogburn Abbott. On Dec. 22, 1945, she married William "Dub" Woodard in Rockwall. She was a retired clerk for Lone Star Gas Company and was a member of Park Street Baptist Church.
Her survivors include her daughters, Pam Norwood and husband Russ of Austin and Janet Hogland and husband Gary of Greenville; grandchildren Jeff Deas and wife, Holly, Bryan Deas, Holly Stallins, Kali Davis and husband, Larry Pat Davis, Melbourne Kym, Katherine Kym, and Sarah Kym; great-grandchildren Logan Davis and Jacob Stallins; brothers, Charles Abbott and wife Esther of Forney, Noland Abbott and Dale Abbott and wife Karen of McKinney; a sister, Gale Baker and husband Kara of Greenville; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1996; a brother, Roland Abbott; and a sister, Doris June Abbott.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
