Funeral services for Mrs. Kara Alta Hollis Vaden, 58 of Kirbyville held at 3 p.m. Monday in Kirbyville First Baptist Church.

The Rev. Jimmy Burks, pastor of the Liberty First Baptist Church, and former pastor of the Kirbyville Church, officiated, assisted by the Rev. David L. Jenkins, pastor.

Burial in Kirbyville City Cemetery was under direction of Causey's E.E. Stringer Funeral Home. Pallbearers were B.C. Crawford, Harold Hicks, Bobby Beathard, Joe Bill Hollis, D.E. Ener, Duward Moss, Pat Johnson and Leroy Vaden.

Mrs. Vaden died at 11:20 p.m. Saturday in St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont where she had been a patient since Friday.

A native of Houston County, she had lived in Kirbyville 34 years, and had taught in Kirbyville Elementary School for 27 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church.

Surviving are her husband, Virgil Vaden; two sons, Kenneth and Cecil Vaden, both of Houston; three brothers, Cecil Hollis of Kirbyville, W.S. and Tolla Hollis, both of Port Arthur; one sister, Mrs. W.E. Beathard Sr. of Kirbyville and six grandchildren.
