Obituary for Jennifer Marie Powers

Jennifer, age 46, was called home on May 9, 2020 surrounded by her loving family.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 13th 2020 from 3:00 pm-5:00 pm at Heritage Funeral Home, Weddington Chapel located at 3700 Forest Lawn Drive, Matthews, NC 28104. Mass of Christian burial will take place on Thursday, May 14th at 1:00 pm at Saint Matthew Catholic Church.

Jen was born on January 1, 1974 at the United States Airforce Base located in Weisbaden, Germany. She was the daughter of Stephen Wade Brooks and Janice Marie Brooks.

Jen was a Senior Vice President of Employee Financial Services for Bank of America. She graduated from the University of Tennessee and earned her Master’s degree in Business Administration. She had a passion for rescuing and finding permanent homes for abandoned or mistreated Pitbull dogs that were surrendered to the South of the Bully Rescue Organization. Because of her passion and dedication, she helped save more than 70 beautiful animals. Jen enjoyed spending time on the beach and loved the sound and smell of the ocean. She was strong in her faith and put the needs of others above her own and was an incredibly selfless person. Jen was a bright light to her family and friends. She had the most beautiful smile and dimples. Her laugh always warmed the hearts of her family and friends.

In addition to being survived by her parents, she is survived by her beloved husband of 23 years, Mike; sons, Andrew and Owen; parents Steve and Jan Brooks; sisters Kayleen Sharp, husband Jeff and Gina Androl, husband Jamie; in-laws Rosemarie, Kevin, Anthony, Katie, Michelle; nieces and nephews, Casey, Erin, Dylan, Jenna, Aubrey, Mia, Luka, A.J., Brody, and Declan and great-nephew Spencer; dogs Sully, Biddle, Molly.
